“As soon as you start to think it’s important that your name is on the top of the bill, you’ve lost the run of yourself.” Glen said that to me backstage in Vicar Street in 2014, when I asked him why he’d invited me up to sing one of my songs during his show. He said “the stage is yours for 10 minutes. Do it solo, play with the band, do whatever you want”. He put me on stages when no one else would. The sole reason I opened up my case and started to sing on Grafton Street when I was 16. He showed

What an honour to join this man on stage at Slane Castle on a song I adore. Thank you @lukecombs for letting me sing with you!

One of the highlights of those two shows was being joined by Mike and Noel from The Cranberries.. I’ve never felt energy like that at one of my shows before, and I have them and their incredible music to thank for it. The memory of Dolores O’Riordan, who contributed so much to Irish music, is always front and centre in our minds at these moments. It’s an honour that’s hard to put into words to be able to sing her songs with you all 📸 @joelstagg 📸 5 @charlie.sarsfield 📸 6 @aoifmoloney

This was my favourite day working on the album, when I knew we were onto something special. I’m so grateful to have memories like this.

And so “The Weight of the Woods” is yours now. I’ve lived with these songs for a long time, and have kept them close, like some kind of promise. I’m so so happy to set them free. I dream that they can bring you some hope. And as always, I hope they inspire you to give and search for love, regardless of the outcome. This album means everything to me. I hope it reaches lots of people of course, but truthfully the making of this music made it a success in my mind a long time ago. That is my true pr

‘Let Me In’ is a song about the struggle to find true happiness, and the people and places that have brought me closest to it in my life. I wrote it on the first day I got to Nashville last summer. I hadn’t written a song in a while, so it felt like I captured something I had been trying to say for a long time. I hope you love this one.
